As a single mother of twins, I must tell you that it has been a struggle. That struggle has led me to the traps of credit cards and debt which has severely affected my credit and the lives of my twins. I felt and still sort of feel like a major loser. I had no true understanding of interest rates. I think it was in 2004 when my children were starting high school and it became apparent that they would need a home computer. Because we lived check to check, I had no lump sum of money to go out and just purchase one and I didn't even bother to try to get one on credit. But a wonderful thing happened. Through my great union [AFGE LOCAL 62] I learned of a wonderful member benefit I had with Purchasing Power and before you know it, we had a brand SPANKING new computer system with a all-in-one printer and a Office Depot gift card to boot!!! I can not explain to you what you did for my family. When your credit is scarred, you feel like you have fallen from grace because no one trusts you. But Purchasing Power gave me a chance and is doing something that not too many people in my family have done and that is attending college in the fall! I have long paid for my desktop but it is still going strong and still helping my family. When the TV I had for 14 years finally lost its picture, it was Purchasing Power I turned to. Also, I decided to buy myself a desktop and a DVD Camcorder which will record the very precious moments of my children's upcoming Prom, Graduation and many other very precious moments in our future.
